Close call
Close calls really make you thankful for your ordinary day. I was running errands this afternoon around town. As I was making my way back home to the apt before work I witnessed, and was very nearly a participant in a horrific accident. I was turning right into the apt complex and was slowing down to make the turn, the corvette behind me changed lanes really recklessly behind me in order to not have to slow for my turn I suppose. A honda was pulling out of the same drive and didn't see the vet zoom around me. He was creamed right before my eyes by the vet going about 45 mph. Its weird how your mind functions at times like these, I distinctly remember shouting," No no!" As I saw the honda pull out. As if they would hear and stop. The crunch was really loud, even though I had Joe's stereo playing. I pulled out of the way quickly and called 911. The lady driving the vet didn't even think to call the police, she started bawling and called what sounded like her husband. The two guys in the honda limped over to me and thanked me for calling. They both used the phone to call their bosses. Apparently they were on their way to work. Seeing as how the fire station is less than a mile away, the police and fire dept. were there very quickly and I had to stay for questioning and a statement.
The whole time I was thanking God that I wasn't involved. It happened all around me. Really shakes you up.
Makes you thankful for boring and uneventful days...
